本研究以舞龍的傳承創新與聖俗轉化為研究主題，探討舞龍從原先的民俗儀式之節慶活動舞台，尤其是苗栗縣將舞龍相關的活動，其中具有組織規模與串連網絡的舞龍活動，大多在客家地區啟動推展並擴散交連，舞龍活動在進入校園之後，乃由民俗活動轉化而為運動賽事，其傳承變異與聖俗轉化，值得深入探究。
本研究乃採用質性研究的方法，透過文獻回顧，解析客家文化與舞龍的關聯性，對學校家長、公部門、校長及學校舞龍教練等共17 位進行訪談並蒐集資料，並輔以參觀察法加以系統化分析。研究結果如下：
一、苗栗火旁龍節慶活動、三義雲火龍及校園舞龍的推動者，皆以客家人為主，發展校園舞龍的學校也以在客家庄者居多，舞龍於1950年之後在苗栗的興盛發展，1970年代之後則淪降至衰退，從1999年起，在苗栗市公所的帶頭啟動下，火旁龍成為在地特色的元宵節慶活動，成為客庄十二大節慶之一。
二、舞龍在苗栗的發展，逐漸從神聖場域走向世俗化場域：舞龍由民俗舞臺步入校園舞臺、從民俗節慶到競技比賽、從文化記憶載體到舞動創意擴散的過程，舞龍活動增加了俗域的競技創新與評比規範，卻使聖域的意義鍵結與消災祈福的意義隨之隱而不顯。
英文摘要

This paper discusses how Dragon Dancing is evolved from ceremonial ritual in the folk culture into a sporting event in Miaoli, and analysis the transfiguration and the expansion as well as the connection between the Hakka culture and the multi-Dragon Dancing activities.
Miaoli Dragon Bombing is the cultural inheritance developed from Han’s Dragon Lantern Dancing. Under the management, marketing and promotion of the government, Dragon Bombing becomes associated with Hakka and is one of the twelve major festivals in the regions today. Step by step, the development of Dragon Dancing becomes more secular rather than sacred. The arising of sports Dragon Dancing on campus provides an opportunity to transforms all the religious techniques common in the traditional Dragon Bombing, these transformations define Dragon Dancing as a delicate and artistic sporting event.
