本研究採取多元文化的分析觀點，提出以差異與平等為核心的理論工具，透過眷村保存的個案研究來探討眷村保存的起源、可能與限制，希望釐清眷村保存為何出現，又是如何進行？這是由原眷戶發起的自救運動，還是有其他的結構推力，遭遇何種困難？眷村保存的出現與推動又意謂著什麼樣的多元文化？是希望訴求族群平等，還是要肯認多元族群的文化差異與集體記憶？本研究希望指出，眷村保存或是源於少數眷戶嘗試保存成長記憶的努力，也是台灣社會中不同歷史經驗與集體記憶受到公共肯認的一種文化資產保存工作。但就多元文化的觀察而言，除了肯認差異之外，我們也必須關注肯認差異與深化平等之間的可能糾結，才能釐清眷村保存的現況與瓶頸，認識台灣作為一個多元文化社會的特殊之處。 | |
| 英文摘要 |
With two theoretical tools anchoring on difference and equality, this paper provides a multiculturalistic analysis of the origin, possibility and limitation of the preservation of Chuan-Tsun, military housing communes in Taiwan. The author tries to specify the circumstances and consequences of this preservation. While the preservation of Chuan-Tsun appears to result from some residents’ effort to conserve their childhood memory, it is also a public recognition of all the diverse historical experiences and collective memories in terms of Taiwan’s socio-demographic composition and cultural heritage. In addition to an emphasis on recognizing difference, it is argued that we need to take equality-related issues into serious consideration regarding the preservation of Chuan-Tsun before we can achieve a solid understanding of Taiwan as a multicultural society. | |
